Twitter is the new phenomenon
in communication tools that gets important ABI
messages out to members and the public
in 140 characters or less.
ABI
members are encouraged to join Twitter and follow
our staff and lobbyists to find out breaking news
in the legislative session as it happens. As we
all know, time is of the essence, and if we can
mobilize our staff and members through this
network, great things can happen for business in
Iowa.

From
the Desk of... John
Schreurs
Social
media is the current buzz word in the marketing
and public relations industry. There are very
few practitioners today not using some form of
social media in their day-to-day lives, either
personally, professionally or both. As a
marketing/public relations agency, we realize
the need to keep abreast of the latest social
media applications for our clients. Whether you
understand it all or not, this is one bandwagon
companies need to jump on as soon as possible,
or risk getting left behind by
competitors.
Using
social media marketing is important, but it
can't do the job alone. That is why we advocate
blending it with traditional marketing methods.
A strategic marketing mix can help boost ROI and
grow a brand with new audiences that far exceed
expectations. For example, a well placed
television or newspaper ad touting your
company's product is still an excellent way to
reach target audience members. Taking it a step
further, you can also mention a special discount
for those who follow the company on Twitter. Now
audience members can find and follow you on
Twitter to qualify for the discount. You can
"tweet" about the promotion, and your followers
can "retweet" continue
