Governor Switches
Appointments/Krogmeier
Moves
Governor Chet Culver today named his Chief
of Staff Charles Krogmeier to be Director of the

Outpaced Again The Iowa Industry
PAC, the political arm for ABI, was
out-distanced by a number of anti-business PAC's
according to State of Iowa records
for 2008. For example, the state employees
union (AFSCME) contributed a total of $424,908
to candidates in the last election. This
dwarfs the $74,835 contributed by the Iowa
Industry PAC. If ABI is going to
get back to advocating for a pro-active business
agenda and not just defending against bad for
business bills, the Iowa Industry PAC must
grow. To make a secure, on-line

 From
the Desk Of...Austin Palmer
One of the leading
indicators of economic growth in Iowa, and
throughout the nation is job creation. At
Palmer Group, we work with company leaders,
department managers, hiring officials, and human
resources representatives throughout Iowa on a
daily basis. Our fingers are on the pulse
of employment. In March and April
we've started to see signs of recovery, signs of
regained confidence, plus an attitude of
investment in our businesses and communities.
Our consultants remain positive. While
we've seen over a 200% increase in new applicant
flow since October 2008, that trend is
subsiding. Our new order volumes have
stabilized and started to climb in recent weeks.
