Governor Begins Bill
Signings
Last week Governor Chet Culver began the
month-long process of signing bills passed
by the General Assembly in the final days of the
legislative session. This week, he signed the
following bills:
SF 151 - a bill
relating to passenger rail service,
administration of the railway revolving loan and
grant fund and the administration of the
passenger rail service. (Part of the
Federal Stimulus package appropriates $3 million
to Iowa for passenger rail projects.) Continue

Building Towards a Terrific 2009 ABI
Convention
As I thought about a
focus for this monthly column, I considered many
issues to cover. I could have written
about the recently-adjourned session of the Iowa
General Assembly (thanks to your leadership and
terrific staff work by ABI's public policy team,
ABI enjoyed a very strong session). I
could note the well-attended meetings and
seminars being produced by the ABI Advisory
Council and membership staff (these events are
providing great value for ABI members across the
state). Or I could talk about ABI
Foundation programs and the strong years they
are enjoying (strong staff work and your help
