Legislative
Summary: HF 2197-Veterans Day off
Bill
The
Iowa Legislature passed a bill requiring all
employers to provide Veterans Day as a paid or
unpaid holiday to all veterans. The
Governor signed the legislation and it goes into
effect on July 1, 2010. The
proposal initially required employers to give
all veterans a paid day
on Veterans Day with no consideration given to
businesses who employ large numbers of
veterans.
The legislation was amended in both the
