IIPAC
Participation Key to
Future
ABI
members employ over 300,000 Iowans. Can you
imagine if even half of these individuals
participated in IIPAC at some level? IIPAC
would catch the more than 20 aggressive Union
PACs.
IIPAC would dwarf the Trial Lawyers
PAC.
IIPAC would be able to help pro-business
candidates for the legislature get their message
out about job growth, regulatory reform, and tax
cuts.
Wouldn't that be a refreshing change? Be

Workers'
Compensation
TV?
Extremist
labor union groups are promoting an "Injured
Worker TV Channel" to bring attention to what
they call "a national issue that needs fixing quite
badly!"
Injured Workers Television would push for
reforms in workers' compensation because
employers "negligently and maliciously cause
disease and injury" according to the proponents.

 From the Desk
of...Mara White, Flynn
Wright
Sometimes
when I get fixated on making something happen,
little stands in my way from securing it. I'm
not unreasonable; I just set my sights on
something and go after it. I'm not talking about
summiting Mount
Everest or inventing the first and coolest online savings
system. I'm talking about other things -
things that might not matter to some but, well,
matter to me.
Like the time about five
years ago that I saw a dress I wanted to get for
our daughter's first birthday. It was perfect -
but they didn't have it in her size. Continue

Some
people may say, "Communication is easy."
No...talking is easy.
Communication requires greater
skill.
It is an exchange that demands we listen
and speak skillfully, not just talk mindlessly
without purpose.
Interacting with fearful, angry, or
frustrated people can be even more difficult,
because we're less skillful when caught up in
such emotions. Don't despair or resign yourself
to a lifetime of miscommunication. Great
communicators can be honed. Here are
some tips to get you started.
Choose
words wisely. Rely on clear, positive
language and straightforward sincerity to foster
shared understanding and earn the support of
others. Continue
